How Dietitians Care

Pediatrician Meeting With Mother And Child In Hospital

At Cambrooke, we’re celebrating Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day by recognizing the vital work registered dietitian nutritionists(RDNs) do: translating science into lifelong care.

For people with metabolic disorders, getting a diagnosis is just the first step in a life-long journey. When you have a disorder like PKU, MSUD, or tyrosinemia, you live with it every day. You live with it at school, at home, at work, at church, at play, at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

And that’s when dietitians make a difference: every day.

Doctors can tell you what nutrients you need to avoid to help you stay healthy. But they don’t always know what to tell you to eat to help keep up your energy during busy days, or how to nourish a growing body. They don’t always have time to give you advice on how to change the flavor of your formula when you can’t stand another drop, or how to adjust recipes so that everyone in your family can enjoy meals together.

Registered dietitian nutritionists know the science behind metabolic disorders, and how to translate that abstract information into concrete, practical action. It doesn’t matter much data there is behind a treatment if your daughter won’t drink it because kids make fun of her at school, or you feel so tired at night you just sneak a slice of your roommate’s pizza and leave your formula in the fridge. Registered dietitian nutritionists help people plan their meals and their lives so they can feel full, and satisfied, and stay on diet.

At Cambrooke, we’re committed to helping people with metabolic disorders feel balanced and feel better. But we couldn’t do it without the RDNs who are supporting patients every day, every year.

We’re making this journey together. And we’re glad you’re here.

Happy Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day.
